Co-founder

Chris King is the co-founder of Golden Ticket Sports Inc and resides in Lloydminster, Alberta, where he oversees all operations of Hoop Factory.

Chris is the Head Coach of the U18AAA Lloydminster Lancers hockey team, taking on the role following an exceptional career at Lakeland College coaching the women's Basketball Team, in which he led the program to a CCAA National Championship and was honoured as the 2x CCAA Coach of the Year. Chris was also named 6x ACAC Coach of the Year, and is the 3x time ACAC Women's Basketball Champion. His transition to the Lancers marks an exciting new chapter in his coaching career as he shifts his focus to elite male hockey in Lloydminster.

Prior to joining the Lancers, Chris built an extraordinary coaching résumé at the collegiate level. Over 16 seasons, he guided the Lakeland College Rustlers Women’s Basketball Team in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), becoming one of the most successful and respected coaches in conference history.

In the 2019–2020 season, Chris led the Rustlers to a 19–5 regular-season record and a 2nd-place finish in the ACAC North Division. The team then embarked on a historic run, capturing Lakeland’s first-ever ACAC Championship before the cancellation of the CCAA National Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following this season, Chris earned his fourth ACAC Coach of the Year award in five years. He was also twice nominated for CCAA Coach of the Year (2014–15, 2015–16).

Across his Lakeland career, Chris compiled a 160–114 (.584) record, reaching the playoffs in 10 straight seasons and surpassing the .500 mark in nine of them. From 2016 onward, his teams produced a dominant 110–34 (.764) record, including an undefeated 2015–16 campaign and a remarkable 46–2 (.960) stretch from 2014–2016. Under his leadership, the Rustlers developed 19 ACAC All-Conference players, an ACAC Player of the Year, a Rookie of the Year, a CCAA All-Canadian, and eight future U SPORTS athletes.

Beyond college basketball, Chris has contributed extensively to provincial and youth development programs. He led Basketball Alberta’s U16 team to a bronze medal at the 2012 Western Canada Championships and assisted with the U17 team at the 2013 Canada Summer Games. He has also worked with Golden Ticket Sports programs, including the Basketball Saskatchewan U15 Developmental Program alongside co-founder Tanner Brightman in 2018.

With Golden Ticket Sports, Chris remains a primary contact for Hoop Factory programming in Lloydminster, where he frequently coaches camps and youth development sessions. Known for his ability to connect with athletes of all ages, he thrives in both high-performance environments and grassroots development settings.

Originally from Kitscoty, Alberta, Chris played two seasons at Lakeland College under former men’s coach Phil Allen, winning an ACAC silver medal, before completing his university career with the Lethbridge Pronghorns. He resides in Lloydminster with his wife Courtney, daughters Macy and Kay, and son Nash.
